9th Annual Yale Valley Arts Festival

Enjoy the beauty of the Yale Valley at the 9th annual Yale Valley Arts Festival. Internationally recognized musicians start off the week with a concert and dinner Sunday July 17th at 4:30 in the beautiful setting of Anderson Lodge Hilltop House overlooking the valley. Only 100 tickets are available. The tickets are $38 each for the concert and dinner, reservations necessary.

Cellist Hamilton Cheifetz, who has received the Piatigorsky Prize at Tanglewood and performed at the White House and Lincoln Center, will perform Shostakovich “Sonata for Cello and Piano in D Minor, Op 40” with pianist Janet Guggenheim. Ms. Guggenheim performed around the world with noted musician Itzhak Perlman. A piece by Ernest Bloch will also be performed. Grammy nominated composer, Tomas Svoboda, performs new piano gems for children and his enigmatic piece “Autumn”. Enjoy a fresh summer buffet prior to the music.

Monday and Tuesday July 18th and 19th, plein air artist Phyllis Trowbridge will help you explore the beauty of the light, lakes and forests of the Yale Valley through drawing and watercolor from 10 am to 3 pm. Bring your lunch, $50 per day. Registration is required.

Monday evening composer Tomas Svoboda will discuss an electronic composition at the Anderson Lodge Hilltop House from 7-8 pm. Free.

Tuesday an Oregon Ballet Theater instructor will teach ballet to children from 4-5pm and to adults from 5-6pm in Ulla’s Pavilion at the Anderson Lodge Hilltop House. All levels welcome. Children $10, adults $15, registration required. Class size is limited.

On Friday evening gather at Yale school from 7-9 pm for elders sharing Oral History in the library room.11842 Lewis River Road. Ariel WA, 98603.

Saturday is Family Arts Day at Yale School from 10 am to 5 pm. Enjoy the Community Quilt Show in the gym from 11 am to 5 pm. Quilt making has developed into an important art form in the Lewis River area. Yale Valley Library District with FVRL, welcomes author Molly Gloss to the Yale School library to discuss her book, “Wild Life” at 10 am with questions and answers from 10:45 to 11:30 am. At 1 pm sharp, area children will share their music, primarily on the piano, followed by a masked dance and story by the Lelooska Family. Children can enjoy making art from 2-4 pm, all must be accompanied by an adult. Remember the Quilt Show in the Yale School Gym is open until 5 pm.
